Hopem (“Usewalter”, “we” or “us”) is committed to protecting the personal information of all visitors and users (“you” or “your”) of the Walter mobile application (the “Application”) and all websites managed or published by Usewalter, including www.usewalter.com (the “Website”), and to ensuring that any personal information you provide to us will be stored securely, treated with confidentiality and processed in accordance with applicable privacy legislation and any other applicable consumer protection legislation that is in place to protect you.

Please note that the use of the Application and Website are also subject to the End User Service Agreement for the Usewalter Platform available at: usewalter.com/terms-conditions/, which form an integral part hereof.

  1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect/store and use your personal information when you use or access the Application or Website. It also describes the types of personal information we collect and how we use this information to ensure we provide relevant and timely services to you and to improve your experience of the Application and Website. We work closely with your property manager and various merchants from which you may purchase goods and/or services. Your property manager and merchants may have additional policies and practices relating to the collection, use and disclosure of your personal information, and terms and conditions applicable to their dealings with you. These should be reviewed by you prior to your making personal information available and using the integrated functionalities of the Application and Website.

In this Privacy Policy “personal information” means information about you, from which you can be identified, and that can be attributed to you. We will collect, use and disclose your personal information only in accordance with the terms of this Privacy Policy.

We keep your personal information as long as necessary for us to complete our dealings with you or otherwise as may be required or authorized by law. In addition, all information pertaining to the order / purchase history is maintained by Usewalter for a period of seven (7) years; including without limitation, name of person placing an order, time order is placed, details of orders, frequency of orders, purchase amounts, address for delivery orders, mobile phone number, type of credit card used and 4 last digits of credit card.

  1. How we use your personal information

Personal information collected through the Application and/or Website is stored and processed in Canada only. By using and accessing our Application and/or Website, you agree and consent to the transfer and processing of your personal information on servers which may be located outside of the province in which you reside. Contractual provisions and other safeguards are used to ensure that, where your personal information is transferred, processed or stored outside of the province in which it is collected, it is given protection similar to the protection set forth in this Privacy Policy.

We use your personal information:

  • To assist us in developing and enhancing our services, Website and Application, to conduct market analysis and strategic planning and to determine your eligibility to receive offers for special features, promotions, and products;
  • To provide you with information about our services and respond to your questions and concerns;

  • We may disclose information to your property manager or merchants to the extent necessary to provide our services.
  • We may disclose information to service providers, for example service providers who manage various marketing programs, who manage any aspect of the Website or Application or who process payments on our behalf. We will only transfer your personal information to service providers that commit to providing a comparable level of protection as that set forth in this Privacy Policy through contractual and other safeguards.
  • If we amalgamate or merge with or are acquired by another company, you will be notified via email and/or a prominent notice on our Application and Website of any change in ownership or uses of data comprising your personal information, as well as any choices you may have regarding your personal information. In any event, you consent to the transfer of data comprising your personal information to any third party that proposes to acquire and/or acquires all or substantially all of Usewalter’s business or its online commerce operations or the Application or Website and agree that we may transfer or sell data comprising your personal information to the new owner.

We may also transfer or disclose aggregate or non-personal information about your activities on the Application and Website to third parties for marketing, advertising, business intelligence services (including analytical consultation services) or other lawful purposes.

  1. Tracking Technologies/Cookies

We may also collect non-identifiable information whenever you access the Application and/or Website such as device addresses and access times. We use this information, which does not identify individual users, to analyze trends, to administer the Application and Website, to gather demographic information about our user base as a whole and to prevent fraud. We do not link this automatically-collected data to personal information.

  1. Social Media Features

Our Application and Website include social media features, such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram buttons and widgets. These features may collect your IP address, which page you are visiting on our Application and Website, and may set a cookie to enable the feature to function properly. Social media features and widgets are either hosted by a third party or hosted directly on our Application and Website. Your interactions with these features are governed by the Privacy Policy of the host.

You have the right to access, correct, delete or update any personal information that we hold about you. Any access request may be subject to a nominal fee towards our efforts in providing you with details of the personal information that we hold about you.
